You have done the work, and a part of you is still holding on.
I'm Patrick Cassidy, an Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapist for adults who understand their history and still feel stuck inside it. Often that is trauma, showing up as anxiety, or distance from the people you love.

You may recognize some of this
You have already done a lot of this work.
- You have read the books, sat with good therapists, and learned the language for what happens to you.
- You can explain your history clearly, and it still runs the show when it matters most.
- The coping tools work for a while, and then you are back in the same place.
- You want to understand the part of you that keeps pulling you back, and work with it.
Part of you wants to change. Another part of you is terrified to.
The work
What Internal Family Systems is, in plain words.
IFS starts from a simple idea. Your mind is made of parts, and every part is trying to help you, even the ones that get in the way.
We get to know them, with curiosity, one part at a time. The anxious part, the part that stays busy, the part that keeps its distance.
Underneath them is a calm, steady center that already knows how to lead. Most of this work is helping you find your way back to it, and letting it do the leading.

Where this work tends to help.

For the anxiety that runs underneath everything, when managing the symptoms has stopped being enough.

How the work goes
What working together is like.
01
We go slowly, on purpose.
Depth work asks for room. We give the parts of you that have been protecting you all the time they need.
02
You lead, I stay close.
You set the pace and choose what we open. I bring the method, the structure, and a steady presence while we do.
03
You will know where we are.
We name what we are working on and check in about it plainly, so the work stays yours to steer.
You have carried this a long way on your own. The next part, you can do with someone beside you.
Who you would be working with
I work with people who are ready to go deep.
And patient enough to let it take the time it takes.
I trained through the IFS Institute at Level 1 in 2024, and I have kept going since. IFSCA Mastering IFS, Bob Falconer's Beyond IFS consultation group, and study with Frank Anderson and Dick Schwartz on trauma and attachment.
- Master's in clinical mental health counseling, Antioch University, 2022
- Degree from the University of Vermont, 2005
- Four years in practice, with adults 18 and older
- Hablo español con fluidez.
